The Disapearance/Melancholy of Haruhi Suzmiya

I have to admit if you're looking for something a little more light hearted then The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya is a good anime to watch, especially if you like ones set in high school with the tiniest amount of ecchi. BUT on the other hand I hated the Disappearance Of Haruhi Suzumiya and I can confidently say that this was the only anime where I skipped episodes. I think that it would have been a good "sequel" if it weren't for the fact that you have to watch the same episode 8 times and that only really leaves a few new episodes so needless to say I got pretty frustrated after watching it six times over. I'm not to sure whether this really has a target audience gender wise but I'd probably say that it appeals to girls more than it does boys, and if you were planning on watching skip several of the looping episodes otherwise you start hating it.

There was one problem I found with this Anime and that was the running order and how different websites follow different orders so check out the list of episodes on Wikipedia as you watch it otherwise it could get pretty confusing.

  1. I think you are misunderstanding something. "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" is a movie, a great one, and it will be released in Bluray and DVD the December 18th.

What you have seen is the 'second seaseon' or Haruhi 2009 episodes. Those episodes are a poor effort by the same studio of Haruhi season one, but after watching the movie you will understand them better. (both the movie and the 2009 episodes were done at the same time)

  2. Okay, but on certain sites they are listed as "The disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" for example Anime Freak so due to the fact that I watched the first 14 without realising I watched the second set a few months later. Have you seen the film?

  3. Yes, I have seen it. The movie is 163 minutes long, what makes it the first or second most long anime movie ever. But it's Kyoto Animation best effort with great animation, plot and OST. It's the best of the franchise so far.
